Internship Interviews
A little more than a year ago, I began an internship program at the Russell Industrial Center. This program was initially started because I was continuously being asked to produce more results with less money. Having worked with interns in other positions, I know that the hungry student often brings a tremendous amount to the team. Given the right environment, and offered an opportunity to lead and give input into a program, interns often offer more than can even be imagined.
It is interesting to see how the year produces various types of interns. I have found that the interns working in the winter (Jan-March) and summer (June-August) are often the hardest working interns. It seems to be easier for them to focus, with less distractions related to getting settled into a new school year, or the impervious spring fever that often occurs as the snow begins to melt.
I am looking forward to securing my next batch of interns for January. Interns help to keep me inspired in the work that I do, as explaining and teaching the skills I know reminds me of how lucky I am to have the training and experience that I do.
